I bought the same fan at Rural King about a month ago for $70. It was very loud on high and really didnt move that much air, so I returned.

Not this fan in particular but adjustable angle floor fans I looked at. It seems in this age of cheapening up or 'cost cutting', the blades don't have much pitch to them so a smaller (less torque) motor can be used at the expense of less airflow. But the speed is high so it's noisy and still delivers less than desirable airflow. And on a 3 speed fan, the speeds are too close together so there is no slow, quiet setting that still delivers good airflow like the older fans. Just for kicks, check out ebay prices for 'vintage' fans.

I agree with that. I have an older 36" attic fan that I removed from a house. It has a belt drive motor and the steel fan blades have decent pitch. I turned it into a shop floor fan and it works. Good air flow and low noise.
