My old shop had the door on the gable end. I used a single 16' door that was off set to one side a bit. That gave me a parking spot up against the one wall and the other side had extra room to the side so that I had a wide bay with a bench on the side. So basically the gable end was a 2' wall, 16' door, and a 5' wall. That extra room inside the 5' wall made a lot nicer work area.
I know that it does not answer you question but I was very happy That I did things that way. If you look at the new shop below you will see that I went so far as to only use two 10' doors on the 48' walls. For me I think that to many shops have to much door and not enough shop. But that is not wrong, just the way I work and use my shop.
If still planning look here
http://metalbuildinginsulation.com/newconstruction.html for insulation. I highly recommend the plastic faced fiberglass that sandwiches between the metal and wood. Getting some thing between the metal and interior will keep condensation at bay.
