240 outlets

i am setting up the outlets in my garage n was wondering if all 240 outlets need to be home runs or can you tie them together none will be used at the same time

interesting, so what do you suppose they do in Europe and much of the rest of the world? Send a gazillion wires back to the box?

The electrical code in the US has nothing to do with European wiring.

edit: I've never been able to find anything in the NEC that prohibits multiple 240vac receptacles on a single circuit, but it may not allowed by local codes.

entirely different thing.

that said I dont know of anything precluding putting multiple 6-50 receptacles on a 50 amp 240v circuit except for the rule that if a single appliance draws more than 50% of the ampacity of the circuit its on it has to be on a dedicated circuit. But to put in say 4 receptacles on the same circuit so you can move one welder around I dont see a problem. Mind your box fill...you will probably need to use seperate large junction boxes to make your splices with single runs into the boxes holding the receptacles. Price it all out and compare to seperate homeruns before you start.
