okay guys i'm new to the form bare with me. so i have a problem i'm not much of electrician but i don't think this is too hard to do, i just purchased a challenger 2 post 10'000 pound lift and i need to wire it up to my breaker box i have 240 volt air compressor already and so my question is how do i do this without burning anything up. can i wire the compressor and the 2 post lift to the breaker box and put in a 50 amp breaker or should i wire them separately. and how hard is it to do the wiring i had one of my old mechanics wire up the air compressor long time ago any ideas would help or if anybody got a write up on how to hook up 240 volt lift.

much appreciated it guys

This is a loaded question so I'll give a loaded answer. If the compressor was wired correctly then you can wire the lift in the same manner.

All joking aside... depending on the location of the lift within your service area you can wire it in different ways. You could put in an outlet and use SO type cord with a plug to connect the lift. You can run conduit with a flex end to the lift and add a disconnect box. My lift is wired using romex from the main panel to a ceiling box, from there I came off with metal conduit using single strand wire to a disconnect switch box on the lift and from there I used flex conduit to the motor.

For wiring size, I'd use #10 and a 25A or 30A breaker.
