Going to wire an air compressor and lift with 240 amp service. I was wondering what wire I should use? I think i need 10/2 but will 12/2 work? Thanks

That's to small, better use 4/0 copper. Otherwise you'll end up burning your building down

In all seriousness how can you expect anybody to answer your question without even the smallest amount of information about the air compressor or the lift? I mean is it a 3hp compressor or a 300hp, cause those two would take vastly different wiring:headscrat

240 amp? I believe you mean 240 volt. You need to know the voltage and amp requirement of the equipment or HP of motors to size the supply conductors.

Is the 3.5HP on a label on the tank or is it on the data label of the motor. Also does the compressor have a factory installed cord and plug? The lift is okay to be on a 20A circuit using #12 wire.

An AC whip works well for the connection from compressor to wall box.
