Dude the 2401 is very limited and old-school screwdriver by today's standards. I have it, and it has it's place in the house for honey-do's and quick house stuff like switch plates, drywall anchors etc. But my biggest complaint was always the (slow) single speed, which they remedied with the Fuel version which has 2 (or is it 3?) speeds.
I would not buy the 2401 with today's offerings, and it often comes in what I call "chump" kits as a free tool, like the not-so-long-ago HD offering of the M12 radio and this screwdriver. Now in some of these kits the 2401 really is basically free, and sometimes you might get an extra battery out of the deal, in which case I wouldn't refuse the tool. But to buy it on its own, no way.
The hex impact driver is just that, impacting. If you truly want something that can drill and drive screws without impacting, just buy a drill. Even the old 2410 (no, I'm not transposing numbers LOL) is decent and the new 2407 is supposed to be nice and that kit is $99 at several retailers right now (I think HD is one). I've never seen a 3 jaw chuck that didn't chuck up nicely on a hex bit LOL, so you can drive screws (like a power screwdriver) AND drill holes with normal round-shank drill bits.

Thanks I was leaning that way. I figure two drills could be quite handy. I just got my M12 stuff and the few times I drove screws with the impact driver I drove the screws below the surface of the wood. I am used to using a clutch I guess. Tomorrow I plan to drive a number of screws while making a rack for my wrenches and I will decide if I can get used to the impact driver or opt for another drill.
I actually like the screwdriver myself. Great for dash and other light work where you need torque control. It is just a screwdriver and does a great job at that. I just recently bought me a impact driver but had the screwdriver over a year.
