If it's a 30A circuit then ground needs to be #10. If circuit is 20A and you are upsizing to #10 then ground needs to be #10 too.

I remember a little match on ETF back in the day as to the reasoning behind it. Seems someone wrote about it at length but I cant recall the details.

Thanks fellers.
30A is the deal for the #10 grnd.
I couldn't remember if it was required or not.

No code where I'll be building but I operate like there is.
For most things anyway. LOL

Code rules anyone?

youre in canada so the NEC doesnt apply. There is no point in commenting with canadian code for a US member...

But its 250.122(B)

Don't listen to them. If OP was in Canada with us, your answer is the correct one, but NEC has weird rules like the ground has to be the same size as the ungrounded conductors.

The OP is NOT in canada so your comment is moot.

Your comment in blue is not accurate.

The NEC doesnt require the grounding conductor to be the same size as the ungrounded conductor for ALL sizes of ungrounded conductors. only for #14, #12, and #10...

Canadian rules are the ones that are weird from our point of view. Also the comment that the ground has to be the same size as the ungrounded conductors is wrong. You need to stick to only citing Canadian rules.

Interesting. But that table doesn't reference the size of the phase conductor, it only references the "rating or setting of over current device".

??? The table does give the conductor size of the ground. The amp rating also coralates to the ungrounded conductors. Not sure what you find interesting. The table gives the minimum ground size for circuit amperage.

Thats why you then reference table 310.15(B)(16), the core of the NEC.

You seem to be fishing for something but your net will come up empty...
