Actually it is more around 20’. The drawings call for 24’ but I had the builder drop the peak some so I wouldn’t be so dang tall.

Quick progress update. Our builder got the driveway poured on Friday. They also got about 80% of the siding completed on the exterior of the building, and the electrical is around 70% complete. Hoping to have the electrical wrapped up next week, and the drywall starting right behind that.

I am going to try and get in the garage tomorrow, and pull some speaker wire in the ceiling before the insulation gets installed.

Hope to have some good progress next week.

-Cheers

Thank you very much! I am super pumped to start using the space, but there is still a ton of work to do.

Quick update. We will be closing on our house on Friday! We are pumped and very ready to get into our home. Slow progress has been made on the garage since our builder is mainly concentrating on getting the house complete.

While waiting for the insulation and drywall to start in the garage, I decide to order a few things.

The first was the garage door opener. I decided to go with the LiftMaster 8500 Elite Series. Seems like a very solid garage door opener, and will help to get the garage door higher to the ceiling for a possible future lift.

The other piece to the puzzle was the split system for my wife's upstairs office. I went with a Pioneer 9,000 BTU unit, which should be more than enough to help heat and cool her small office space.

I also ordered the garage lights (12 - Barrina LEDs) and bought all of the paint. I am ready to make some progress!!!

Currently the framing is pretty much complete (there are a couple of walls that need to be moved), and the electrical is approx 90%. I was also able to sneak by today, and pull in a few runs of cable for some in ceiling speakers. Here are a few interior progress pics.

Once we get in the house I am hoping to make more steady progress since I will be able to do things at night after work. Hope you guys enjoy.

I am super jealous. I love the idea of adding shelves/storage into those knee walls. I saw you were planning on running speaker wires before insulation, great idea! Maybe run separate set upstairs for your wife as well. Just in case you are in there at the same time. Are you planning on putting down a floor coating?

Thanks guys! I can’t wait to get all moved in and wrap up the last few items to get the garage 100% complete and functional.

Hahaha thank you! I can’t wait to get it out of storage, and start working on it again. My first priority once it is in the garage is the cooling system, headers and fuel. That way I can let the engine run for an extended period of time, and see if there are any real issues.

Unruh, sorry I missed your floor coating question. Yes I am going with the Hell Fire Concrete coating from Legacy Industrial.

Hope you guys have been doing well!

It has been a busy and stressful two weeks, but the good news is my wife and I have finally been able to close on our new home and start the moving process.

At the same time we have been closing and moving we have also been pushing our builder to get the garage complete. Currently they have all of the insulation in, and they hung everything out yesterday. Today they did their first coat of mud. Hope to see the garage door going on soon.

One of the perks of being in the house now is I can knock out little projects on the weekend, or at night. The first of many projects was to pour a small pad for the split system condenser. I had to get it knocked out in between summer rain storms, but it turned out well.

Things are progressing nicely so I hope to have another update by the end of week.

Thank you guys! Progress is being made on the garage, and I will post pictures later tonight. The interior doors and trim are complete, and the split system has been installed. The electricians were here today as well starting to install the breakers, outlets and switches. Hope to be able to power on the garage shortly so I can fire up the AC, and get the paint and floors going.

I did mean peak. Thank you, I'm in planning stage and have to stick to a 20' height without getting a variance. Was curious about the second floor and if I would have that kind of room.

If you make the roof slope 8.5/12 you will stay just under 20 feet tall on a 24 foot wide garage with a 10 foot wall, But a ridge beam would be required to have a usable upstairs. It would eliminate the collar ties that form the flat ceiling in this garage.

Thought I would put together a quick update.

With the move and work everything has been crazy busy. Progress is being made on the garage, but at a slow pace. As things currently stand everything on the interior has been painted, and the electrical is awaiting inspection. My wife's office is approx. 90% complete. The painters need to come back to caulk and paint all of the base and quarter round. Please excuse the mess in the garage.

Once the electrical inspection passes I can install the LED fixtures, ceiling speakers, and garage door opener. While I had a little time today I tossed a simple shelf in the closet where the amp will be placed.

These are the next items on the list that I need to get knocked out.

- Install all door hardware.
- Coat the garage floors.
- Install base in the garage
- Trim out the stairs and install the riser boards.
- Install ceiling speakers
- Hanging LED fixtures
- Install garage door opener.
