Thanks for the comments. We are in VT. The house was built in 2011.

Nice, I was going to guess somewhere in New England. House looks great, It has the appearance of a nice old colonial, but the poured foundation made me think twice. Would love to see the inside!

Nice build. Had to be fun to start from scratch. The loft looks pretty spacious. Any pics of the inside coming?

The loft has a 4 foot knee wall so, yes, it does provide a nice space. I'll try to grab some interior pics but it is embarrassingly messy at the moment. I'm having it insulated and prepped for heat.

Very nice, how high is the ceiling in first floor and is that a 12/12 pitch?

Now I want to build a two story garage again!

Can you show a closeup of how the post are anchored to the pad?

And the barn looks great. It has the charm of a resurrected old barn. Job well done sir, job well done!!!!

The posts are anchored with a J bolt embedded in the concrete and then a simpson post base bolted to that. Pretty simple as long as you plan your post before your concrete pour. The 1" stand off of the post base keeps any rot away.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Now I just need all the inspiration on this forum to set up the inside.

Steven....9 foot ceilings on the first floor. It is a 10/12 pitch. Funny that more people don't build 2 stories. The cost was nearly nothing to add a enough height for a second story.
