Hi,
Finally poured foundation and backfilled the dream garage. New to building garage. The contractor is talking about an apron outside the garage door? Should I have an apron or just asphalt up to garage door and around it? Also, looking for ideas on landscaping and ideas around it to make it more useful and future proof. Thanks to all. Tom

Go with the apron for sure. You'll be glad you did. Here's the one I had poured. 3' wide

My garage was 24' deep by 32' wide

Isn't the apron usually a separate pour from the garage? I'd think I would want the outside chunk of concrete separate so that rain, snow, freezing temps, etc would not affect the floor or foundation.

An alternative to a poured apron would be a paver apron. It can move on its own, cracks of course won't be an issue. The substrate has to be properly built up and packed using concrete sand, and use polymeric sand to brush fill the joints on top. But an apron is a nice addition to the garage slab to finish the job. Good luck on your build, I nearly done with my 24x28 garage build, and of course I wish I had gone 32' deep. But then 24x28 is enough for my shop without too much space to collect more stuff.

Mine was, not sure if it usually is. Contractor built the garage, then I had a friend, also a contractor, pour the apron.
