I went from renting a house with a rotting 24x24 stick built barn with a 14x24 bay.
(Very cramped) while having a small Toyota pickup parked in there while rebuilding the engine.
I finally bought a house BUT the only thing that it came with was a 12x12 concrete slab.
(I'm going to build a shed there.)
So I'm building me a garage in my back yard!!
It's going to be one of those sheet metal enclosed car port style garages.
(Go as big as you can afford, right?)
Here are some pics of my process so far.917f65ca083f9adc1659c0168cd94c6e.jpg40c7a9db6bfeb6f3c25062d6a242d971.jpg1bc15925959ee664cdbe6e612fae5b36.jpg

I also got my concrete done today! This slab looks so small...
I am going to add more dirt on the front and high side. 0bc09dbe8867c5702bf5baf77d86b4e5.jpg493d4b5e8323842292e3596c7b27985b.jpgb01ff39d967499869b67f78ecf37c32e.jpg

Why the odd size? Or is that a standard size for the metal garages?

What's your plans beside a home for your Tacoma?
It's actually 24x30. But it has a 6 inch over hang on each gable end. That's why they call it "31" feet. It will only be a home for the TurdYota when it's been worked on (which is an everlasting project.)
I also plan on just putting all my mechanic tools in it, my equipment, and other doo dads and some "pizazz" to give it the "auto shop" feel. My ultimate plan is a small car garage and Fab shop.

Got some more dirt and packed it in the side and filled in some dirt at the front ramp over the weekend. I'm happier with the extra dirt now. 6136bbfefeed91891622ec2049c82cde.jpg399cf245c1cb0cecb5121f81219b5526.jpg

Finally got around to getting some of my stuff in. I'll do another update later. I still need to wire my shop. I'm just using a drop cord from the house right now. bd8d6dda2e8a3186cf6edbf397a1e498.jpgd36d5f951c1660be51afd504bd6bb5b7.jpg99290c4fb6ca6bd97adb482d12bae50a.jpgcd4791b981e22c5ea184a5b7dcb80c77.jpg

I forgot that I also hung a shelf above my roll up doors with some angle iron and threaded rod from a job site so I can store various 2x4s and 2x6s along with my wife's growing Christmas collection. (she just started) c0825d4cc364ebdbac949bff0fcb2965.jpg779a2c48bc78f092ba506cf18cc08882.jpg2f3fa1a7be7cbfb1f5e9dcbef5549cae.jpga9a5a939697ea5f1e1332b5f3935a089.jpg

Finally, I have ran electricity to the garage!
I even installed some lights today. (Freebies)
Excuse the terrible mess.
It looks so much better now I have POWER!
I have to finish wiring receptacles and get my coax and Ethernet ran so I'll have cable and WiFi.
