This is almost exactly what I want only in a 24 x 36. Very nice building and I wonder if these guys would work in Kentucky. I sure would like more information on who put it up for you. Thanks.

I think these are the people who built this mans building.

http://www.stoltzfus-builders.com/

They work in several states it seems. Kentucky was not one of them. Im going to give them a call anyway and tell them I saw their work here. Maybe they can refer me to somebody. I wish I could afford a big fancy garage but I cant. I think the original poster got his moneys worth and then some.

Yes MM1281 they are the ones that built the building. I am still impressed with the quality of work they did.

So finally I have a day to work on the garage. I got up this morning and started the framing of the walls. I have all the main studs in and just need to work on some odds and ends to finish it up the walls. Next up will be working the ceiling but it just wait for another day since it is so hot today and I am working alone. Anyways here is how its looking.

Nice build. I noticed you're prewiring in electrical. Are you running power out there yourself? Maybe laying a phone line, and cable for TV in the trench too.

I will be doing all the electical myself. I am running the service line, cable and cat 6 to the garage. I need to cut boxes for the outside outlets and lights. Also adding a 220 to the ouside so rv's can plug in if needed. Sometimes I think I am going overboard but better to do it now instead of later.

It's been over a year now since I took the time to work on the garage. Well I am back and hope to finish it up in the next few weeks.

Most of the pole barns I see are so big, I never event thought of them as an option for a small garage like what I can use, but this looks amazing! I wonder if there would be any issues with using T111 as siding and sheeting/shingling the roof to match a house.
Any complications with the building inspector/permitting?

Subscribed! Great looking shop! I love Amish builders. We have a lot of them near by. I plan on building roughly a 40x40 pole barn in a few years. They give you so much bang for the buck and the weakest link is the poles in the ground. If done right, They will still last for a several decades. I have to ask though, (you are the lucky guy because I see it all over this board, I just haven't asked yet) Why use OSB? It seems to be the the material of choice for interiors. Personally, I think it is very ugly material and it was designed as a cheap medium that would not be seen. With current prices, I just checked prices on comparable materials and there are other options.:headscrat

Bustedwheel, I had no inspections since I was under 1000 sqft. T-11 and shingles are an option but I am happy with the steel. I always thought a steel roof was cheap but once I had it on my house and now garage I will never shingles again.

Fyrme,I chose osb because i can pound a nail in it anywhere I want and hang something from it. I personally liked drywall but as I started building I changed my mind to osb. I am not sure how it will look after I paint it but I think I can make it look close to drywall.

Even not having the inside complete I realized I need more space. I was going to get a shed but for the price on an addition it is a no brainer. So I hope on the next month or so I will get a 16x24 addition added onto the end of thebuilding

I got ya on the ability to hang a nail anywhere. That is nice. However, I don't think you will achieve the drywall look. Plan on painting it with a airless sprayer or your work will be cut out for you. The opposing strands can be hell to cover well. And two coats of thick paint will help hide the roughness of the chips. The plan for my shop will likely be metal siding on the inside up to about 8' and drywall above that on a 12' wall. That way I can turn the drywall long ways and only have a joint every 8' which will be covered by a 1x2. The only finish work I will have is the screw holes.

Your shop is great none the less. And WAY better than what I currently have to work out of.

Just about got all the OSB up. Got some trim work to do then time to paint.
It has taken a lot longer than I expected but 95 percent I have had to do alone.
If I can suggest to anyone building a building like mine take advantage of the attic space. It may not seem like a lot or a big area at first but once you start using it you won't be disapointed.

How do you like your building 2 years later? I am pretty positive these are the same guys that built my building too. I can recognize the truck, workers, and building similarities too. Stoltzfus-builders out of Lititz PA.

I wouldn't have minded getting windows in the garage doors, but I didn't, and mine faces an alley - not the house.

Looking foward to seeing the osb painted. Considering the same route myself. I was thinking of a two tone upper/lower with a stripe to take away some of the osb "look" when painted.

Im thinking of building a garage like this, One question, Would it be possible to have condensation in the wall with that design if the thing is heated in the winter? Since it dosent have exterior walls or wrap before the insulation it seems it might happen, anyone?

What's the height of the garage and the over head door size? Looks awesome!

This is an old thread but great garage. I’m getting ready to build the same size garage but with vinyl siding and asphalt roof to match the house. Hoping I can get someone to put up the building quickly for a reasonable cost vs me putting it up and it taking forever.
