So last night my boys were playing in my shop and locked my harbor freight tool chests ( I never lock them). I had no idea they did it and pushed the drawer shut with my keys and wallet in the top drawer. I called Harbor Freight this morning and after an hour on hold they told me they can sell me a new lock (10 weeks!) but it will be a random number. They cannot send me they key to open my box.

So does anyone have a #26 key they can send me a copy of? Either charge me for the copy or I can priority mail it right back to you....

Thanks

It’s a round barrel type key. Not sure if that can be done with a photocopy

If the toolbox was unlocked and the keys inside of it ,how did it lock you out? How do you lock the box without the key?

Are you sure it's not just something inside the drawer sticking up and either catching on the top or pushing on the locking bar?

Try shaking the drawer.

It can't be locked if the keys are inside. But kids (and adults) can lock it and then lose the key. If so call a locksmith or learn to pick it yourself.

I don’t know if the old ones (series 1) do it but on the newer series 2 boxes if you lock the cylinder with the key and then push the drawer shut, it locks the drawer. I have never locked the box before so I didn’t know it did that. I left all the keys in the top drawer since I never had any intentions of locking the boxes.

If never going to lock, drill it out, and cover with a plate or something.

Locksmith might be the fastest. It isn't that hard to pick a lock. I'm sure you can find videos on how to do it.
I lost my key on vacation. My novice rear end had my tool box picked in under 60 seconds. However mine wasnt a tumbler style.

Around here lock smiths charge 50 bucks for a lock out service. In your case it might be worth it.

Ok I got the keys out. I managed to get the smaller side, bottom most drawer open and reached all the way back and unlocked each drawer one at a time on my way up. The left side and topmost long drawer didn't open but then I flipped the box on its back and upside down on moving blankets until I reached into the back and over the top of the topmost drawer and felt the keys. I made a mess and it took an hour or so, but I'm in.

The keys have been relocated to my office. Thanks for all the replies!

For future reference I grabbed the lock cylinder on mine with vise grips and turned it until it unlocked. That is I spun the entire barrel. It doesn't surprised me you couldn't get keys. The one I did it on was the display model. A friend of mine was the GM and he couldn't get keys for it. The guys there had screwed up the top lock and metal around it. He sold it to me for a discount and I figured I would try to get it open before I drilled it out. It worked and I covered the hole torn in the top box with a Rockauto magnet.
