While searching online for info on a 26x26 garage, I came across this site.

The plan is to build a 26x26 garage with 13' walls and a 3/12 pitch roof to allow the ceiling height I want and stay below my local by-law for building height.

Took a few years to finally get "approval" to build at the current house and not wait till the next house. One final step is an appraisal and then the bank will be happy. Then the jumping through hoops to get all the paperwork done for my building permit can start.

I wanted a place to store my summer toy over the winter on a 4 post lift and still park our daily drivers in there. The summer toy is a 1970 Chev C-20 with a 396 BB and lowered.

The garage is supposed to start about halway in the driveway, you can see the orange mark on the driveway in front of the old truck, and then over to where the shed that is lifted is sitting. The shed is already gone.

Well almost a month later still no building permit.

I'm supposed to meet with the engineer tomorrow to get my floor drawings and hopefully hand that to the city and get my permit. So if all goes well I should finally have my building permit tomorrow, or Monday.

Had my permit for nearly a month now and I finally had the excavation start today.

So glad to finally have some digging going on. Only got a bit done so the engineer can come look at the soil to see if he wants to go down further.

Been just over a month since I last posted. Garage is up, roof all shingled. Just have siding/soffit/Facia to get done on the outside. Garage doors are ordered. Inside is insulation and sheet the walls. Plus install the lights/switches/plugs so I can get the final electrical inspection.

Driveway just got paved this past week.

Great project! I really like the tall height, do you plan on a lift?

The truck looks good, lets see some more pics of that?

I love those old trucks, they are awesome.... I will never forget getting into my old 4x4 68C-20 and shutting the door.... "Thud" the door shut making you feel safe!

I am subscribing to this one, mine is also 26x26....

I went a bit over budget on the garage, so no lift this year, but yes a lift is planned. The garage is wired for surround sound and I just ran the wires for my security cameras. I figured why not, it's easy to do with the walls open. Ceiling height is 12' 9". I wanted enough room for the truck up on the lift and still drive under it.

I can only upload one picture per post on my ipad for some reason, so here is one of the truck.

I usually use flickr but when I'm on my phone or iPad, I guess I'm too lazy to upload them to flickr first then link to them, lol.

Since I can only post one picture per post when on my iPad, I'll have to make a couple posts.

Here is what showed up Friday. Walls were insulated during the week and ceiling prepped, I just had to get all the sheathing installed so they could come back for the ceiling.

And finally the wall where the doors are going is ready for the arrival of the doors.

One problem is that the panel lift only went 11 feet, but my ceiling height is 12 ft 9". That was fun.

A bit more progress.
The exterior is complete except for some eavestrough and the doors are getting some decorative hinges and pulls this week some time. (This picture was taken before the second door was capped)

Interior I have lights up and just finished the walls. My problem is, I already know the ceiling will be going solid white stain, but I don't know if I want the walls left as is or stain them white too.

I haven't posted in a while, so here is an update.
Security system was installed and I also installed a surveillance system that is recorded 24/7 and I can access from my cell.

Today I finally had a lift installed. Garage is just high enough to fit the old truck on top and the new truck under it.

I was actually thinking of a levelling kit for this truck.

I have the rough country 2.5" leveling lift kit on my 04. It's cheap so you get what you pay for, would've liked nicer shocks but not a bad deal for < $200.

I had a rough country levelling kit on my 2012 Sierra. Last night I installed a set of Supersorings on my 2014, that I bought for the Sierra and didn't install before I traded it in. Now that I installed them, it sits even higher in the rear, so I almost have to get the levelling kit, lol.
