Gee thanks man, just had to show off "your" mobile bandsaw bases didn't ya ? Those things are works of art, makes me want to throw mine in the scrap pile. :willy_nil

I have missed this thread until now and admire your little shop. I must honestly say, I thought your welding skills were awesome but now I see your ability to stuff 10 pounds of **** into a 5 lb bag is utter amazing. I'm in awe that you have that much in that small shop and still get things done.

Very nice work! I am a big fan of the work you've posted on Race Dezert, I always read your threads. I may have to copy your mobile bandsaw base design for my 16" Walker-Turner.

Thanks for posting!

Last time I saw welds that nice was many years ago there was a local speed & machine shop that did engines & fabrication - McMillens [?] in Wampum, PA - Jim, the owner was a master fabber & his roll cages & frames were literally a work of art -especially the chrome-moly! Shop is long gone now - sad.

One thing I hate is when custom builders grind all the welds to look like seamless joints - joints like these need to be seen to appreciate the effort!

I agree, it irritates me when people grind their welds down for looks.

I built these today for an older style VW sand car that needed bump stops.

3/16" cold rolled steel cut on my bandsaw with a 3/8" cold rolled bump stop pad and 1/2" UHMW bump stop.

I TIG welded the pad to the 3/16" and MIG welded the rest.

FINALLY took some pics of the my shop and the progress I've made.

I sold and removed the twin-post Weaver lift that I had. I moved the tall floor cabinets to my other garage and bought 20 of the Gladiator wall cabinets.

I was now able to move my mill, lathe, and sheet metal brake into place and hang most of the cabinets. I still have 5 of them that I'm figuring out where to put.

Just as a reminder here it is BEFORE:

....and here it is now.

I now have an Atlas SLP-7K full rise scissor lift that I will be installing (hopefully sooner than later). I'll be sure to post pics of the install.

Jealous doesn't even begin to cover my thoughts.... I would LOVE to have that shop. AND on top of that getting to customize UTV's thats just crazy. That really is a shop to be proud of and those welds are EPIC. As an engineer I have to inspect welds quite frequently and if we saw those at work.... well a lot of other welders would be out of a job. Great job and keep us posted.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I hate to beat a dead horse, but those welds are a thing of beauty. Your shop is coming along nicely. I am slowly building up my inventory of metal working tools and your tools make me jealous.

Garage looks great, and like others mentioned the welds are a thing of beauty. With the Gladiator cabinets, did you go premier or assemeble? If assemble how are they for weight and sturdiness?

Being that I'm an old school hot rod kind of guy, Kiwi Kev's shop is a paradise to me..... but if I could pick one shop to be my own I think this shop would be it. I never get tired of looking at all the great equipment. Looks like a great place to get stuff done. You have some amazing skills.

Thanks SiGmA.

Here is a project that I'm currently working on. I've posted a couple pics of it in the fab section.

It is a Desert Dynamics sand car that I'm rebuilding the back-half on.

The "stock" chassis

I am impressed with your welding skills ZTFab! And I want you to know that complement does not come lightly. During my college years I was the welders helper for the fab welder on a pipeline job, and what Ole Pete could do with a Lincoln stick welder was just magic. I have seen a couple other guys in the intervening 40 years that were close. But you certainly belong in small group of world class welders.

And I am in absolute envy of your shop and shop equipment.

Congrats.
