I found a few random pieces of foam board in the attic which turned out to be just enough to finish insulating the header above the garage door. I was able to piece enough together to get an even 1-1/4” depth.

I spent some time in the Shop yesterday. I was able to caulk the header insulation and finish the last of the wall board.



I then turned my energy towards cleaning up my salvaged trim. I pre-mitred each piece and began dryfitting.
Then I painted and installed a section along the West wall and around the man door.









I also made an improvement to my temporary mitre cart. Dust collection is quickly becoming a necessity. I’ll have to make a plan going forward.

I did manage to sneak in a couple bike rides this week with the high 40*s and dry trails. My Wife got off work early yesterday and was able to join me.

Lookin' good. I've been sorting through totes full of "stuff" the last few days. Also spent a few hours removing a stuck rear brake drum on my son's '66 Lincoln. We're about to pull it in and yank the driveline. Maybe sometime before next summer I'll get organized.

As it turns out my oldest sons' flight to visit his bio-mom was delayed so I had to stick around town instead of skiing until he was air-born. This gave me some time to get some more trim and paint up.

I haven’t done a ton of thinking about the attic door yet, but I do have enough steel to cover it. Maybe some J-channel to finish it out. I’ll complete the ceiling trim first.

So this week and last my 4yo has been on Winter break so we've been hanging out full-time. Not much is getting done in the shop. We did go in there today, he watched a movie while I cut and painted the trim for the compressor closet door.




I’m also planning on adding a router plate or lift to one wing of my table saw. Does anyone have recommendations? I have a 3-5/8” router.

I really like the Jessem Mast-R-Lift 2. I have several and they are great. I have some with the PC 7518 and others with the 890. Both work great.

I found a compressor on Marketplace that grabbed my attention. Older CH made in USA. I have been running an oilless portable CH of this vintage for years with no issues so I was happy to find this larger one.

It had a new 5hp motor, new pressure switch, and new belt.

Ran well, sounds good. No rust in the water that came out the drain. I’m happy. The guy offered to bring it to me which was awesome as my van is down at the moment.

Currently cleaning and going through all the fittings and connections.

$325 I could’ve talked him down but I felt bad considering he delivered it.

Today I disassembled the compressor, cleaned, and reassembled with new fittings, copper line, new drain valve, and cord. I also changed the oil.











I decided not to paint it as it’s not too bad and will live in the closet. Plus, I kinda like the ‘patina’ and battle scars.

Tested the cut in/out of the switch, filled the tank, and now to pressure test over night. No audible leaks.

I got a few small things done today. I finished painting the rest of the trim I had. Unfortunately I think I’m short.

I patched the temporary opening in the compressor closet where I had been running an airline. The new compressor will be hard plumbed with 1” black iron pipe around the ceiling with drops at 6-8ft intervals.




I also decided that I like the small air compressor in its current home so I cut the handle down so it doesn’t stick out anymore.

Calling trim done for now. I have paying jobs coming in and I’m all out of free trim. LOL! Only above that garage door header is left to do. At least it’s symmetrical.

Yup. Free is great as I wouldn’t have trimmed it otherwise. I like the shelf idea except I feel it’s too low to be useful in my situation. I think it would protrude into the room and make it feel smaller.

I laid my Costco lights out and it looks like I’ll be buying 6 more tomorrow morning. I thought 44000 more lumens would be brighter???

I ran to Costco to grab 6 more lights. Too bad they aren’t on sale anymore. This makes a total of 16 for my less than 30x30 shop space.

I think this will do fine. It’s tricky to really judge light output when it’s below you.

Between yesterday and today I got a full layer of R13 down above the ceiling. My thought is to fill up the stud space then overlap with an alternating row of R21. This way things lay nicely and I’ll have R34 which seems adequate.

I’ll get the lights up before the next round of ceiling insulation as the wiring is still accessible at this point.

I got 12 of the 14 up, but ran into an issue with the garage door track brackets. They interfere with the spacing.

I ended up using my temporary welding area lights which are 3’ single tubes which allowed me to match the spacing of the outside fixtures.



This leaves me with 2 extra 4’ double tube fixtures. I’ll have to think about where to put them and how to get wire to them.

This is where I am at the moment.



How do you like my wiring job? I grabbed every extension cord in the house. Lol

I installed a cheap louvre in my air compressor closet door today; in preparation for completing the air system.



I ordered a door sweep and started pricing out black pipe VS copper for the main loop.

I then got rid of the funky pallet the compressor had been mounted to.
Looks small in the room, but I’m glad I have space around it.

Too much light is just enough! I had 15 4 ft T8's and decided to go with 20 LED UFO style lights. Much better but could have went with 25! I have very consistent lighting throughout with no dark spots however, its perfect! I'n my "build" area, I still have box style T8's for more "natural" light and think its a good combination. It takes a bunch of time, money a patience to put the proper lighting combo together. Well done! Shop looks great!

Today I spent some time on my air system.

Gathered some anchoring supplies.

Mounted some unistrut to install components to, then mounted my vertical with drip leg.


I will be adding a flex line and water trap after the ball valve.
