I found this forum through another forum I'm on (Roadglide.org) for Harley Davidson owners of Roadglides. I've been reading the posts and really enjoying myself looking at other peoples garages and learning some new things. I had my dream garage built in 2010 and did the inside finish work myself. Here are a few pictures and I'll add some more pictures over the next few days. 28x30..20ft tall at the peak with 9ft ceiling..18ft insulated garage door with a Lift Master opener plus MANY more details on the inside. My lot size is 58x120..My neighbors call it the "garage mahal " Enjoy! Check out my Youtube video..scroll down a few responses and you will find the link..

Nice video of your garage, thank you for taking the time to post it.

Now you will find out that "stuff" expands to fit the space available and that is a good problem.
Oh I know this too well sadly. It's taken me a year of saturdays to try and reduce mine down. I'm still only 70% there arrrrr!
So I'm disagreeing its a good thing. :p

that place is sweet! wish the building code would have let me build slab on grade w/ brick veneer but I was stuck w/ siding instead.

I live in Michigan and I have about $50,000 invested. I paid a very reputable contractor to do 90% of the work. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted but also understood what my personal building limitations were. A few people think I was crazy to spend that kind of money on a garage and should have done most of the work myself but I disagree. I would rather find the professional and get it done right.

Thank you, I I'm thinking like that too

I don't know if its similar in the states but over the pond if you get individual people/companies in to do different parts of the job it works out far cheaper. We did this with the house build and will do it with the new garage. It works out between a third to a half cheaper to get a foundation company in, brickys, roofers in, sparky, driveway, door etc than to get one comapany to do it all.

I agree that I probably would have saved a few bucks by being my own "general contractor" but after seeing the work that the contractor did around my city I decided just to have them handle it. I did have a couple issues with the companies that put my entrance door on and the brick people and my contractor took care of it right away and made things right.
