I recently built a 28'Wx30'L garage with 10' walls. I'm ready to do the wiring for the lights but am having a difficult time deciding on lights and placement of them. My OH door is 18' x 8', which is offset to have both trucks parked on 1 side of the garage. This allows me to have about 7' of working/walking space along 1 side, front to back. As well as about 7' of space across the front, side to side. The work area will be mainly used for wood working and socializing, as well as the rest for regular vehicle maintenance and detailing. I was thinking of a couple different options.
Option #1: Simple way : Equal lighting
3@ 8' attached running side to side.
5 rows spaced at 6' apart front to back.
Each row of 4 per light switch over the vehicles and the work area ("L" shaped) so I'll have 3 switches (Left and front row, Center, Right)
Option #2: Almost Equal lighting
2@8' attached running side to side over top of the trucks.
5 rows spaced at 6' apart front to back.(2 switches)
3 @ 8' attached running front to back centered over the work area plus the front row on 1 switch.
Option #1 has the lights all running the same way, #2 has 2 sets running side to side and the work area set running front to back. Is any option better than the other?? Or does it really matter? Yes I live in Canada and yes my garage is heated and well insulated LOL. Also what kind of lights would be good to have in here? If anybody has any other ideas or pics of their setups, please share. I would like to run all the wiring this week and insulate on the weekend before the snow starts flying lol. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
