I sort of hated to see you poured a solid footer dividing both side of the garage. I had a wall between mine and kept one side to park my '62 Impala, and the other side to work in. I ended up tearing the wall out to create one large space. In doing that, I had 4" blocks for the top foundation that I had to bust out. Both floors are uneven down at that garage door end and water pools in there. Next year, I am probably going to have to have a section cut out and replaced to eliminate that.

Your garage is looking great though. I bet you can wait to get into it. What sort of heat are you going to have upstairs? And how are you going to plant anything on the stones around where you dug down? How are you going to get any plantings to stick?

You bet, can't wait to get in and start working on some projects!

Since it'll always be warm in the first floor, I think a couple 2000w baseboard heaters will be plenty on the 2nd floor.

I'll take care of the rocks next summer...

Wow... can't believe it's been 4 months since I last updated! :dunno:

Tremendous amount of work done since last update... With the help of my brother in law and a good friend, we worked our asses off from early December to late Feb... Then I continued on my own.

In fact, 1st floor of the garage is 90% completed. What's left is a couple moldings to install, door frames who needs to be painted and some finishing touches like a ceiling light and sink to install... Should be able to take care of all that within a day or two. The main thing left to do on the first floor will be the ceramic tiles. But I may give that to a local contractor... We'll see. Lots of work done on the second floor too. Wiring, plumbing and divisions are completed. It's ready for Gyprock. I plan on hiring a couple guys over the summer to install it, and probably give the plaster to a local contractor...

Unfortunately, I didn't take too many picture of the process, but I'll post what I have over the next couple days.

I'll update the thread later with better pictures of the interior. I'm very happy with the way it came out so far.

More to come

Still not done, but close enough! Windows and door frames still haven't been painted, my workbench and sink in the garage haven't been installed yet and of course, the floor tile hasn't been done either...

But still, it'll give you guys a good idea of the end result. Pictures show the garage side and a sneak peek at the lunch counter and cabinets we made in the workshop area. Also a quick look at the work table I built a couple weeks ago as a side project and some of the goodies who came in by mail so far :D

Finally, some decent weather... About 2 months behind the rest of the country apparently... but still. Let's rejoice and celebrate by working outside. Without any gloves on!

Getting my garage drain hooked up to the house's gutter drain. Next week or so, water lines will be operational too and some asphalt + the garage entry will be done... Can't wait to finally be able to get in and out of the garage with my car...
