My detached garage panel main breaker is a back a fed 60amp 2 pole breaker.
Can I supply a 2nd panel for (2) extra 240v circuits off the main lugs of the 1st panel? It's all #6awg wire from the house to the garage and to the 2nd panel.
I figure the backfed main in the 1st panel protects both panels.

I thought the first 8 circuit panel was enough till I started thinking about separate circuits for A/C, heater, openers, lift, lighting

I have one that is done that way. Actually a couple, I wanted a main in a sub and didnt want to change panels, spaces were limited so I hook a welder recept to the main lugs.
