After having used the one at work (worn + 3/8 hose), I looking into getting one. I pretty much decided to get a IR 2141/2145, but I was curious about the Florida penumatic composite impacts, if they are any good or not. They are a bit less expensive.

I looked at the Aircat's and they seem to have mixed reviews (from what I've seen), so I didnt bother looking any further on those.

I was going to buy an IR, because I have the red quiet IR 1/2 inch (don't know the model) and although it's a great impact, it wasn't getting it on all my projects.

So I happened across a red 3/4 inch impact at the Harbor Freight store in the clearance rack. Normally about $250 I was looking at the sale price ones at $230 and this one was on clearance for $150 - no returns. I took a chance and took it home

It's obviously a knock off of the IR wrench.

I don't know what the specs are on that HF wrench, but it hits pretty hard. When I get a bolt that the 1/2 inch IR - that is supposed to be 600 ft. lbs. - won't move, I get the HF 3/4 and it will take them off in an instant or it will break them off.

The sucker is heavy for a plastic tool...

I am not sure if you will be using it everyday or just ocasionally, but you can try to find a lightly used one. I ended up picking up a lightly used Matco 3/4 gun for $120 locally online. Checked with my dealer come to find out he orginally sold it and told me it was still under warranty if I have any problems.

You can save alot and get a perfectly good gun if you look around.

I can say I do really like the IR/Matco impact guns. I have each size and they have taken a beating and still keep going.

I don't know anything about the Florida Pneumatic guns but I'm very happy with my IR 2141 and definitely recommend it.

I have the same 3/4 earthquake gun. It has some serious power to it and has not let me down yet. It is heavy, but all 3/4 may be fairly heavy too.

I have the 3/4" Earthquake also. I use it regularly to take off 22.5 wheels, mostly front due to no anvil extension and it is good. I am also using the same 1/2" hose that we use for the 1" impact. I like to push it to its limit but that might take some time.

I bought one in new condition at a pawn shop for $55 otd as is. It was worth the gamble.

i've got two. chicago pneumatics, they are damn good and last like no other in ****** conditions

first a cp772h

runs hard for years with horrible and wet air lines. definitely not gonna die any time soon

the other, higher torque, and lasts just as long.

CP8072 with magnesium case, definitely tell that it hits much harder than a lot of other 3/4 impacts i've used

just as durable. lasted years on crappy poorly maintained air lines with rusty water running through them, has no issues keeping the power up.

Take a look at the Proto J175WP. It is a beast, but very quiet, and cheaper then a 2145 (on amazon)

2145 , it's better made than the 2141. I've seen them both from the inside. 2145 without a doubt. Two reasons, steel motor end plates, much larger diameter output on the rotor. 2141's will break the rotor, I've had a few broken ones through here.

The only composite FP 3/4" I can think of is the 749 mag, which is also the Craftsman 19985, you can get a new one on ebay for about 130 bucks. The 2145 has more torque though.

It's metal, actually. They are strong tools.
