Skylink IQ-1723 ... never heard of them ... are they any good?

It's chain drive, I thought belt drive was all the rage now, as they're quieter etc?

Thanks

I googled this brand and found some reviews ( I think at homedepot.com) Only a few reviews but more than one said it was VERY quiet.

1/2 hp Craftsman is on sale for $140, so this one is really tempting, expecially since i am in market for 2 openers. Smarthome has free shipping for $175, so it should be easy enough for me to get two plus something for $25-30 shipped free. I am tempted....

That seems to be an amazing deal, too bad I can't quite afford it right now ... hopefully a similar deal in a few months time.

I've never seen one myself, I'd recommend a little more research! See if there is a Distributor/Dealer available in your area for parts in the future, or that could become a real adventure for you.

Not bashing Skyllink or Smarthome, but seriously a 3/4 HP opener for $75? Raises more than a couple red flags for me! :dunno:

Not necessarily, likely just a closeout/bulk buy deal. They probably got pallets of them for $10 or $20 per unit and are just re-selling. Happens all the time.

Can't comment on the opener, but I've had less-than-stellar experiences with SmartHome. They are simply a middle-man for many of their products, and will do very little to stand behind expeditious shipping/delivery, or service.

I tried to buy a heat pump switch-over relay from them and I needed it ASAP. Website said ships within 1-2 days...Took nearly 2 weeks to get it, 10 days to ship. After several calls, they basically just said, "We put the order in with the manufacturer, after that, it's on them." They refused to call, and kept saying that "it should ship tomorrow." I ended up ordering with another place after they couldn't guarantee anything. The other place was also a middle-man, but they called the manufacturer directly and had it shipped out same-day. Again, YMMV...

Ordered 2 of them for my 2 car garage out back. The Free Shipping for $175+ does not apply to heavy objects and cost me $61 to ship, even after I added stuff to my basket, so I dumped the extra stuff out of the basket.

But I did take advantage of my new membership and got 10% off my purchase totaling $199 for the two door openers delivered. :rocker:

Their web site says these are on back order so I don't know how quickly they might ship and if my order gets cancelled, whatever.

I figured that if HD sells these for >$200 for my infrequent usage they should work out okay.

Edit 3/26/14: Today I received this email message: "Discontinued Item
The out of stock item can not be shipped. The item will be removed from the order."

Looks like I missed out. I wonder if anyone got any of these?
