I have an aircat 1600th. It makes quick work of anything it's put to. It's just hard to control.. almost like an on-off switch.

i don't have one personally...yet. a coworker had 2 old chicago pneumatic and just bought a new 3/4 ingersoll rand. the shop also bought a 3/4 ir for the service truck as well. another coworker has a blue point 3/4 and my other coworker has an old ir rebrand from mac i think? im working on buying one of the chicago guns from my coworker they are heavy as hell but still packing power for how old the gun is. I figure the chicago gun will hold me of until i buy either an ingersoll 3/4 gun or an aircat. everyone at work is impressed with the ingersoll guns. ive also seen the aircat 3/4s in action and they seem bad *** so kind of a toss up. maybe some one could enlighten me on one or the other?

btw i just got a job at a logging truck fleet/cat shop so a 3/4 is standard and gets used daily...

I'm a Honda dealer tech and they are extremely tight. It's true what's already been said. My IR timax could usually get them off if I hammered reverse/forward a couple times and sometimes if I smacked the bolt head a couple times (gotta be careful you don't damage the crank thrust bearings though) and usually I could get it off. Recently though my 1/2 gun died and I got the newer style IR quiet model as a demo and had a t-belt job yesterday and it wouldn't come off at all. I was in a hurry so I grabbed a co-workers 3/4 IR gun and blasted the bolt off.
I'm hoping my new Snappy 1/2" gun has enough balls to take them off :dunno:

I use my 3/4 to remove Honda crank pulley bolts.
I know for a fact the new snappy 1/2 guns will get just about all of them off. A bunch of techs in the shop use them, some have had to remove the cotton from the exhaust tho.

I was looking at an MG725 SO 1/2 impact the other day. The dealer's sales pitch was that he'd throw in a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter if I bought that gun, and it would save me from having to own two guns. I thought that was a bit of a bold claim, but I've heard a few techs say they that's what they do.

i have an ir 2141 i bought last november for $10 at a flea market. the note on the box said it needed a new hammer and anvil and the parts were $300. i figured i'd take a chance for $10.

i got it home, took it apart and the hammer is fine, but the anvil has one of the lobes broken off. i can get one online for somewheres around $100. i figure if i ever need a 3/4 inch impact i'll order the anvil and fix it. until then it's sitting in the air tool drawer of my tool box.
