From an unbiased source ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ er er cough cough huge matco logo... but for real, I had the matco but the ratchet head broke clean off where it necks down to go to the handle...they wouldn't give me a new one I welded it back but it looks like hell. but I admit I was using a backhoe to push down on it trying to break loose the bolt.. probably outside the design parameters there but oh well when you're in a pinch, shi][ can happen. I have had good luck with the snap on 3/4 head and their handles. pretty stout.

What I like Matco :lol_hitti but like snapon also but there is no snapon to compare now is there :headscrat

I am looking at the collapsible models for ease of storage. If there is another option please feel free to present it. As long as it is collapsible.

The matco ad says 24 tooth and the AM-Pro says 72 tooth. Pro's? Cons?

The collapsible 3/4" ratchets are not worth it, seen more than one of them broken.

Neither are collapsible but I recommend Snap-on (head is removable and interchangeable with other lengths and breaker bar heads) or Wright.

i have nothing against matco but i sure would not spend twice as much and still get an imported ratchet

I bought a used Cornwell 3/4 inch on ebay; it has served me quite well. Do not remember the price, it was a few years ago. I do not use it often, a few times a year.

I've had my Craftsman 3/4 drive ratchet for 23 years. I have used it lot over the years. I've never had a need to upgrade it. I believe they are still made in USA. My second pick would be a Wright 3/4 ratchet.

Ok, does wright build the snap on ratchet, and are the heads interchangeable with the snap on heads?

just wondering. i have a snap on 3/4 drive just the head like john deere was describing. I picked it up from a buddy for $50 ( plus a snap ring plier set and a couple other small things... what is this thing worth? just curious. I turned down a handle from an old 1" stainless shaft from work. nice threaded handle (ha). anyway enough rambling. It's a pretty tuff ratchet

I would go with the ampro, my matco dealer had one of those ratchet on his truck and it just felt cheap and overpriced. I ended up buying a snap on 3/4" with 36 in handle, I sacrifice storage but also gain a handle that isnt floppy when it extends out either.

The Matco guy that comes to our shop sold the EZ Red ratchets until Matco started putting their name on it for a lot more money. I have a T&E Tools collapsable ratchet/ breaker bar set that mimics the Snapon set up but bought it for less than a SO ratchet head costs. Thing to remember on the extendable ratchets is when using a cheater pipe have it fully collapsed. I have used ten foot cheater pipes with no problem on my setup. The T&E set feels a lot heavier than the EZ Red style.

I gave two bills for my Snap On 3/4 with a three foot handle off the tool truck.

I take that back... I paid $300 for the ratchet head and handle.

There was a Williams sealed head 3/4 drive on amazon a while back,
I think it was listed under the vender industrial tools sales for $100.
You may have to search under Bahco.

it may have the pin detent, not the ball detent. So you need to use sockets with the holes in the drive end.

With so many good used brands on ebay, criags and at the flea and swap meets, I would never pay retail for any of them. But Snap on has the best resale value, much more than Mac, ********, Matco. Crampsman is easy to warrent and sells good. Toolman

I've had my Mac Tools "ZR26" for years now, it's taken a lot of abuse over the years, even with the help of a bobcat to break some nuts loose it's held up well!!

I am trying to find a sealed head Wright ratchet, but I want longer than a 24" handle. Anyone help me out here?
