As of right now, I don't think anything really competes with Milwaukee. I really like my SO 3/8 impact, but I like good old ni cad batteries.

:deadhorse I can't think of a better thread than this to use that smiley.

There are several choices out there and everyone has their own preference; however Milwaukee, Snap-on, and Ingersoll Rand seem to be leading the pack when it comes to this niche. I own a Milwaukee and love it however if you search you will find many people also own Bosch, Dewalt, Mikita etc.. and love them too.

What I like about the Milwaukee is it's price point. Who else has a brush-less impact on the market right now?

In terms of a 3/8th compact impact, is there any competition that provides more torque?

I see no reason to buy ancient NiCad technology.

I am in the same boat as you looking for a 3/8 impact. I think the Milwaukee M18 is the best in terms of price, power, and warranty.

Dewalt 20V Max 3/8 is only 130 ft lb.
Ingersoll W5130 K1 is price around $300 and comes with 1 battery.
Snap On CT8810 is the top dog but priced very high.

Milwaukee 200 Ft lb, 2 batteries, and a 5 year warranty for roughly $300

I love my non-fuel M18 impact, has been flawless except the hog ring coming off a few times(only an issue with Cman sockets, no issue with snap on sockets)

The big selling point for me with the M18 Fuel 3/8 was the adjustable power output. Also the price, lol. I could buy 2 with money to spare for the same price as the SO.

I bought the kit with the compact batteries beause that was all CPO had in stock at the time. I am glad I did. I like it better with them instead of the fullsize batteries from my M18 1/2 impact.

If I were to buy an M18 cordless impact wrench, I would get the 1/2" Fuel rather than the 3/8". For 3/8", I would buy the M12 Fuel for its compact size.

The only time I ever had a hog ring come off is when I put a chrome non-impact socket on an impact wrench.

I've decided to go with the Milwaukee M18 fuel. The cheapest I've found the kit with the larger batteries is $329. Where did you see it cheaper?

I usually do my big purchases in bulk on US websites, ship them to my US PO Box and then go pick them up in Niagara Falls. That way I don't have to limit myself to Canadian retailers. The savings makes the drive worth it.

I think I am going to get the m18 Fuel 1/2" impact (full size) and teh for 3/8" impact I would get the m12 fuel.

I don't have an air setup though.

I was at Home Depot the other day and took a look at the impact drivers on display (same body as the impact wrenches). Since then I've decided to wait for the Makita 3/8th brush less impact wrench to come out, the grip fits my tiny girlish hands much better than the larger Milwaukee counterpart. I know the warranty is no-where near as great, but better tool ergonomics is more important for me.

So, if you have tiny girlish hands, consider waiting on the Makita brush less, or buy the non brushless version that is out right now.

By the way, I'm just assuming they will release a brush less version, I don't see why they wouldn't.

I love my 3/8" M18 Fuel! I'd definately buy another! I just tore a dually axle apart, lug nuts included, and put it back together with it over the past couple days...
