Looking over the sockets today I was reminded that Snap-On's were the only deep sockets that incorporated the ledge into the inside of their deep sockets to hold the nut in place. Now, I have actually needed to revert to non-ledged sockets when clearance have been an issue but overall I like the deep sockets with a ledge. I was just curious if there are any other companies that also put a ledge in their deep sockets. I know that Bahco does, but are there any others? For the "Duralast=Snap-On" folk out their, do the Duralast deep sockets have a ledge on the inside?

Just got me thinking!

I'm sorry, but what do you mean by ledge? Do you have any pics to show what you mean? I'm just not sure what you mean.

If you mean only the bottom 3/8" or so of the deep well being fluted (i.e. 6 flats), GearWrench deep well sockets are like this.

Kobalt deep sockets are made to hold the nut at the end of the socket. Craftsman deep sockets allow the nut to go almost to the bottom of the socket. Both are made by Danaher, but the design is very different.

Modern MAC are shallow broach. In the '60's they offered both. Shallow had a B suffix added to the part #.
