With the advent of high torque 3/8" drive cordless impact guns, I'm wondering when tool manufactures will catch on and begin to offer 3/8" drive lug nut/bolt sockets? More specifically, I'm referring to sockets with a plastic sleeve around the O.D. to prevent damage to wheels. Does anyone know if there is a company offering these?

You need the plastic sleeve/insert, or the pretty anodizing? Electrical tape and the black thinwall options are good enough.

I wanted a 3/8 set as have many 1/2 ones, I think I found 1 set on amazon. Reason I wanted 3/8 was when I use my 3/8 torque wrench instead on the 1/2 one.

Use a 3/8 to 1/2 inch adapter, and you can use the 1/2 sockets with the 3/8 ratchet or torque wrench.

I do it all the time. Be sure to figure in any difference in the amount of torque you may need to reset the torque wrench by due to the adapters length. Same goes for if you use a regular extension with the torque wrench for torqueing items in hard to reach places or lug nuts on deep dish rims.

I gave up looking over a year ago after I got my M12 Fuel 3/8" drive impact. I found a 3/8" to 1/2" impact adapter and use my existing Sunex flip sockets.

Socket extensions don't affect the torque. What does change your values is by making your torque wrench longer or offsetting your drive end with something like a crowfoot.

Sunex makes some XL 1/2" impact sockets (2848 for SAE) that I wish they'd offer something similar in 3/8". Not thinwall, but I don't really need them for my Expedition, but the longer length would be nice....

That would be really nice. I have CCW's on my track toy, and the lug bolts are recessed in quiet a bit. Titan makes a nice extended lug nut socket, but again..only 1/2" drive. :(
