I'm looking for a set of extra deep 3/8 chrome sockets.

Usually I can find individuals as well as sets when it comes to regular, deep, semi deep, and stubby, but I'm having a hard time finding anything other than CTI sets, and no singles other than spark plug sockets. There does look to be one Snap On set for $500+, and nothing else that I can find.

Where can I find a reasonably priced 3/8 drive ~5" long set of sockets? I'd even be happy piecing a set together of sizes I need, if I could find them for $10-15 each.

trident (p/n T120300) do an extra deep 3/8 set 8 to 19mm but they won't be 5" length, most only likely be close to 4"
Koken do a 4pc set at 120mm length .

Wow, 5" long? What's the application, out of curiosity?

You see this one?

I grab deep sockets first every single time,i guess i just like the way it feels better, and it saves my knuckles. I've had to add an extension to that set-up many more times than I've had to switch to a regular depth socket.

I recently picked up a used locking extension that included a 5" 5/8 spark plug socket, and I love the length. I think I'd use them constantly.

CTA 1189 is probably your best bet unless you to pay the snap on dealer

They also offer individuals.

These extra deep sockets are still relatively uncommon. The majority of manufacturers don’t offer them at all. I have known them to be needed (bumpers) but it’s still rare.

My first thought would be KoKen. They only offer 5 sizes, but I reckon these are more or less job specific tools.

OP - If you don’t have a specific job in mind, would you be better off with “extended” sockets?

I use the spark plug version of these as my standard spark plug socket, which prevents the socket and extension separating when you try to remove them!

Because the one you show, on the bottom, does not keep the socket lined up to the bumper hardware. The one’s at the top line everything up in an easier way.

It's not so much for a specific purpose, it's more about the way it feels. Like I mentioned, I always prefer a deep socket no matter what I'm working on, I like being able to hold the socket steady with my off hand. I guess an extension with a sleeve is closer to what I'm looking for, but an extra long socket alone is really what I'm after. I may just have to piece a set together one by one, but I haven't ruled out that CTA set, at least as a start.
