3/8 impact gun to screwdriver adapter?

Currently have a Snap-on 7.2v Li-ion 3/8 impact gun (CT661) and was looking to buy the screwgun version (CTS661).

Does anyone have any experience using a 3/8 to 1/4 hex adapter to use an impact gun as a screwdriver?

I have a corded drill/screwgun that also has an impact mechanism and i love it, and wanted to bring the same combination to my Snap-on 3/8 gun.

Any help is appreciated thank you!

What size fasteners(bolts, screws) are you going to tighten/remove? If your tool has a clutch, turn it down to prevent stripping the heads, or breaking the fastener(s) until you find a setting that works.

Small screws, mostly door panels and random repair around the shop. Center mount brake lights on some mini vans are held in with screws, license plate bulbs, some air filter boxes etc etc.

i have that milwaukee adapter. works fine for its purpose. it is a little bulky but not really an issue. you need to use power bits with the locking groove. it is much nicer to have a separate tool for screw driving purposes, more efficient

I like that adapter, haven't bought one myself but I will get around to it.

I have a similar one, probably not impact rated, probably not even name brand, that I use with my ratchet. I've put it on the impact gun before but never really wailed on it. Broken a few bits (some were probably mostly broken already), never broke the adapter yet.

I bought one because Milwaukee claims it is good for impact service. I found it difficult to install onto my Milwaukee M12 3/8" impact wrench, but I jammed it on anyways; however, it was even more difficult to remove. I tried this again and it tore the rubber O-ring from underneath the hog ring. I ended up having to buy a repair kit to replace the hog ring on the M12. Upon inspection I saw that the 3/8" drive end of the adapter has detents on all four sides like you'd find on a chrome socket. I informed Milwaukee of this problem last year, but I don't know whether they have fixed this product design flaw. Use with caution if your impact wrench has a hog-ring

That's exactly what I would buy it for. I was looking at the M12 Fuel 3/8 instead of getting the impact fastener driver.

Too bad they aren't in stores yet to test, but that's ultimately what I think is going to be most cost effective. lose a little torque on screw bits with an adapter, or lose a little more torque on sockets with an adapter (from the 1/4 hex imact to square) hmmm that's a pretty easy decision.

I have the ct661 and the cts661 both are great. Ill tell you I use the screw gun way more interior and under hood work, I have a 1/4 hex to a locking 1/4 drive adapter for sockets it works great.

I have both the CT661 and the CTS661 and love them. They are among the most used tools in my box.

Hey guys...I think I may be missing something. How is this different than just using a little battery impact gun (like my Makita 18v)?

Or is it just because you simply already have the 3/8" impact and want 2in1 type thing?

Gothcya! I'm in the opposite boat right now. Have to use the 1/4" shank 3/8" driver in my Makita...until I buy the Makita 3/8" 18v driver.
