I just got my IR 2115QTimax in the mail. They've been tending pretty low on Amazon lately so I finally pulled the trigger. I put an adapter on it and used it today with some 1/2" wheel sockets that have the plastic outer cover. Does anybody make those in 3/8 drive? While we're on it, what does the hive recommend for impact sockets?

Wow I'm actually surprised more truck brands don't offer them in 3/8" drive. OP, since you now have the 3/8" impact wrench, why not just buy a set of deep 3/8" impact sockets from Sunex or GP? Or are you looking strictly for the sockets with wheel protection?

I've got my heart set on some SK semi-deep impacts, but I specifically want something with the wheel protection too - if available. If not I'll keep using my adapter. Thanks for the advice so far! How do I use the flip sockets? I need a 3 inch extension?

Word of caution, I personally would buy Matco impact extensions, they have the friction ball retainer vs snap ons ring. Me and a few guys at work bought 3/8 snap on impact extensions, and we can't stand them. The sockets falls off so easily it's unreal. You move your gun too fast and the socket may fall off. I'm not kidding, these are on lightly used extensions as well. I sold mine on Craigslist and bought Matco ones. The other guys just continue to use their chrome extensions on their gun.

You may love the snap on extensions, I'm just stating my own experience and others in my shop.

maybe Apex 3/8 to 1/2 adapter extension, you can pick retention type. 3/8 sqr dr socket alone may wear out faster, +many thinwalls not warranteed, so consider these points also.

ex 507b3 or b6 etc

I have the "Sunex 3329 3/8" Drive Standard and Deep Metric Master Impact Socket Set", and recommend it... unless you can swing the combined SAE+Metric kit!

I second Sunex impact sockets in general. They have several different sets including this 80 piece Master set which includes both SAE and Metric, standard, deep and universal, plus Torx bits and extensions !

This is a more reasonably priced set !
