Was going to buy a HF 3/8 impact and started looking at other options. How does everyone like the Aircat 1076-XL? 500lbs of torque and Amazon has them for $103 with free shipping. The HF is $90 (300lbs torque)so for a little more I rather have a better tool. Don't want to spend much more than around $100. What do you think? What quality is the Aircat?

Never used this model but our plant uses air at composite impact guns throughout the facility. Hold up better than Chicago pneumatic or IR equivalent. I'd say it's better than the HF model.

The aircat is most likely a chinese gun too but hopefully made to better qc specs. Theres the NitroCat 1355-XL 3/8-Inch Composite Air Impact Wrench With Twin Hammer Mechanism also, which is $153 on Amazon and 700lbs.

If it's between the two I'd lean toward the Aircat. The only real advantage with the HF gun is you can swap it out easily if there's a problem, rather than wait for shipping to/from Amazon.

If you can go 1/2in this is a pretty sweet deal at sears $139.97 1000lbs made in Taiwan

When my old mac died I bought the hf earthquake 3/8" I hated it, and gave it to somebody else who had the same one die on them a month after they bought it.

It's more than you want to spend, but the ir 2115 is a great gun. If you depend on the gun for a living I would strongly suggest it.

I have one I use daily and I've had it for a few years, I know of several others that have been running daily with no issues for several years.

Strong, light, good control, easy controls, cleans up with just a wipe.

The aircats get some good reviews, but no matter what they don't have the track record ir has, and won't for many years, and their better gun is almost as much as the ir 2115.

Are you set on buying a pneumatic model?

That is a little too much for me as I am not using it professionally
If I was buying a 3/8" again, it would be one of the short Astro models.
Wow. I looked at some YouTube videos on the Astro. Looks nice. They are pretty cheap too. Amazon has them for less than $100

If it's in your budget, I agree too. I have a previous model, the 2112, ~14 or so years old. Used daily for several years and now just for hobby use. A little beat up but just as strong as the day I bought it.

Look for a used ir2115 or 2115timax also cornwell and matco have rebrands they hold up the best for me over the years snap on needs rebuilding very often where a lot of the newer impacts coming out of china I am unsure of over time

I have the 1/2 version aircat, 1055-TH, and it is powerful and light. I have been very impressed with it in the jobs I have done. It also removes the nuts very quickly after it breaks them loose. I was actually looking at the 3/8 version of the gun this morning on amazon.

Another vote for the 3/8 nano. Powerful enough to remove lugnuts/crank pulley bolts, but small enough for suspension work. I love mine!

I'd get the Aircat. It has a two-year warranty vs. one year for the Astro Nano.

I have two Aircat impacts right now and I like them both.

I happen to have a pair of them. The Nano has the most muscle but at a cost.It uses a lot of air in a hurry. The HF has less power but is still used on smaller projects. I would have at least a 30 gallon air supply with 3/8 air hose at about 130 psi.Ken

If it's not an everyday day use impact, maybe check out the M7 line that's sold on Amazon.. they have a bunch of different models to pick from and usually get good reviews.
