Do any of you use 3/8" impact sockets on your air ratchets ? One of my 3/8 air ratchets is a Ingersoll Rand impact/air ratchet. They marketed it in the '90s.

Impacting air ratchet, yes. Standard air ratchet, no.

Barry, I recently picked up a set of 1/2" SK sockets from the late '50, there ain't a virgin in the group, chuckle. For the 3/4", it had a heavy MAC six point instead. hmmm. So I think you aren't alone in your sinfulness. Guess how I know what a impact tracks look like.

I bought a set of impact 3/8 for my Air Ratchet they ended up getting in the way too often and it got annoying so now they sit in a box buried in my draws, chrome sockets will do just fine, they might split after a ton of use, but any cheap 3/8 chrome set over impact ones.

i have both 3/8 as well as 1/2 impact sockets. I only recently got a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter as all my tools (battery impact and air impact) are 1/2 in size.

I only use impact rated sockets with my impact tools. I have only every broken one non-impact rated socket every and that was trying to use it with an impact tool. Not safe as a chunk of it broke and flew off.

I would not strictly use only impact sockets as they seem a bit larger than the non-impact silver sockets.

I know a guy in town that does the same. He has a set that are " thin" impacts all the way through 1/4, 3/8 and half, long and short with swivels and extensions and stuff. It works for him ! He mostly works on farm equipment and is surely a brute jumping up and down on breakers bars with extension pipes and stuff. A real animal but a gidder dunn kinda guy.
His torches roll out first thing in the morning :shocking:

Good Morning, I ordered a set of small Tekton metric, with your considered opinion, it was worth the effort. I already had a set of 3/8 SAE picked up at a too good to leave behind clearance price years back.

I worked on machinery, nothing dainty over the years . The socket that broke most often was the 15/16 1/2 drive. A well seized 5/8" bolt was a challenge. Warranty and the company replacement of broken and lost tools came into play. In fact I used the company replacement to replace a couple of common Chinese 3/4" drive, 1 5/16 and 1 1/2. While the 3/4 set was company's, it always lacked the common sizes. The company replaced with Proto. Chinese 3/4" are simply not worth the effort, no matter how cheap they are.
