3/8 indexable ratchets - good off brand

Im thinking one of these MAY be handy to have around.

I dont want to spend SnapOn prices.....but I also dont want Harbor Freight either.

I have quite a few Armstrong, Wright and other brand ratchets.....but Im having trouble finding someone that makes a reasonably priced 3/8 indexable ratchet.

Under $50?

I have the Harbor Freight 1/2" and 3/8". I have only used them a few times, but they are very nice for the money.

I have this one as well and I must say it works great. I have used it a bunch since I bought it and it has held up very well and it has been very convenient to have.

Like this one lots; used it last week to change the water pump on my daughter's Saturn which has very little room to work in/around between the pump and the fender. The frustration it saved me this one time alone was well worth the price.

That's an extendable ratchet. I have one of those as well. Indexable are nice too.

the Armstrong's in 1/4" and 3/8" run about $80 or so online, however, the big 1/2" (normally $90+) is only $39 at cripe on ebay!

I have a Blue Point one that is USA made. I haven't needed to use the indexable feature of it yet, but I have used it as a regular ratchet and it seems pretty decent.

I've got one and I've never used it. It came in a Blackhawk set that I bought for the sockets.

I used to have a Stanley version. It was well made, but I never used it a single time so I sold it.

Yep. Just an uglier handle and a much higher price. I've examined it closely and it's identical.

As mentioned before, don't write off the HF ratchet just because it's HF. They're very high quality, strong as hell, nice and smooth action, and made in Taiwan, not China.

They're really handy if you switch off the index button, the use it like a crankshaft to rapidly spin the fastener into place (picture a steam locomotive wheel). Click the button and tighten normally.

I own the 3/8" and 1/2" drive Armstrong indexable ratchets. However, I did not want to pay the high price for the 1/4" drive Armstrong. I purchased on eBay earlier this year 1/4" drive Titan indexable ratchet. It has a 72 tooth ratchet mechanism. I purchased it from Rock Bottom Pricing for less than $30 shipped. I believe Titan discontinued all 3 drive sizes from its catalog. Currently on eBay, all 3 Titan drive sizes can be purchased for less than $30 shipped: LINK.

I have a Proto 5257L red handled 3/8 indexable. I have used it exactly once to loosen and tighten a nut on a machining fixture in a weird spot but it worked excellently.

member arcstyles pm'ed me and gave me the link to cripe's ebay auction, I decided to spring the $39 for the Armstrong 12-996. I have bought a few things from Cripes and I've been happy so far. That Armstrong head looks like the SK/Facom Tuff1.

I have the Armstrong version of the 3/8" drive indexible ratchet and it comes in handy especially in tight quarters. However, it would be hard to find a new one under $50 and $14.99 on sale at Harbor Freight is hard to beat.
