I have my grandpas 3/8 mac impact that I would like to have freshened up. i would guess its from the mid 70s to mid 80s, I forgot to look for numbers on it today but what are the chances of parts/service being available for it?

Really depends on which gun it is. Some were made by ignersol rand. If so then maybe a rebuild kit is available. If its not an ir then your pretty SOL.
well I cleaned it all up and warmed up the boot under hot water to get it pliable enough to get off, which was still a pita, and it looks new under the boot. anyway its a aw212, serial #ajl27713. any idea on manufacture date? will mac rebuild it or have a kit? I don't use it a lot but it was gramps and I would like to have it in perfect running condition. it works now but I assume its a little tired, although I don't really know how much nuts it should have since I mostly use my 1/2 impact. thanks for any help.

The aw212 is an IR made gun. Can probably still get a rebuild kit for it. As to date they ran that gun for a long time. Could be anywhere from 80's to early 90's.

The AW212 is an excellent impact. I've used both the AW212 & it's big brother AW232 (1/2" impact) for many years. I made the huge mistake of trading in my AW212 for one of MAC's newer impacts which ended up being a POS from the get go. I still use my AW232 almost daily.
As for parts your best bet would be to call MAC Tools directly and see what they say. More than likely you will end up having to send it back to them for repair. I would ask my MAC dealer for you but we haven't seen him in weeks.

Bought a 212 around 95. Used it to pull lug nuts when new. Still my go-to tool. As long as it keeps kicking, I'll hold off on a cordless.
