3/8 socket set With BEST CASE

So not necessarily the quality of the tools although that is very important. Who has the best case that comes with the socket set?

Sk-i loved the old metal cases and the new blow molded greens look nice too
Bluepoint - i have heard they are the only company that warranties the case along with the tools

Others?

Ideally a blowmolded case with metal latch seems like it would be the best. Hold socketts snug but not so tight that you need aprybar to remove them

Hinges and latches that dont wear out after the third use

Smoother plastic that is easy to wipe down and keep clean

Ok give me your thoughts and ideas

SK would be my choice for a balance of case and quality of tools, but they are not tight and tend to move a little bit.

SK is great for me. Have 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" sets in the blow molded plastic cases. Ran them for several years in my service truck and now they are in and out of the toolbox as I stocked the truck with cheaper tools. Cases are still holding together perfectly which rather surprised me with them being plastic.

I have a weak spot for snap-closure metal cases like those SK kits. I collect Dayton wrenches and sockets/drive tools, now I seem to be amassing a bunch of metal cases in the process!

Pelican.

Pick your socket brand, and make your own foam insert. Best of both worlds.

Facom socket sets have long had thoughtful, well-made cases. They used to be beautiful metal cases (still are for some less popular or very large sets). Nowadays they are often space-saving, whether Nano with spring-loaded bit rails that rotate out for easy access when the box opens or minuscule Pico cases in 1/4"-Drive, or the current modular Mbox.

They also do many 3/8"- and 1/2"-drive sets in a so-called Detection Box that uses an extension as the handle. They’re called Detection Box because they have holes aligned with the tools to allow you to detect whether anything is missing without opening the case. Here’s a 3/8"-drive example though they are neater and more tightly packaged in 1/2"-drive.

I have a soft spot for metal cases. The Euro and Japanese brands still do a lot of their sets in metal cases.

I like the fact that SK sells just the blow molded cases by itself should you ever have a need to replace it. A nice thick piece of foam works great at keeping sockets from moving around inside a case.

I bought a Taiwan made Blue Point set that has a really rugged case, I know I paid too much for the tools, but I have four other sets in cases that have broken hinges, broken latches, or the inner portion has broken. I made sure that the case was lifetime warranty and it was. Driver says if case breaks, I get an entire new set if they don't have that case anymore.

I agree that SK are some damn nice cases, just not as comprehensive as I wanted for this purpose.

I have two SK 3/8 sets. One is just SAE and the other is SAE and metric. I can only compare them to old Gearwrench pass through socket sets but the SK are a lot more durable.
