Smaller to larger or vice versa on Impact socket adaptors.....are these considered safe or to shy away from when using these on a impact gun or ratchet?

I have these for my regular ratchets in the regular steel material.....for example I have a O2 socket for replacing oxygen sensors that fits a half inch drive that I used on a regular ratchet when I replaced my wifes o2 sensor

Should these things be shy'd away from?

I have a regular set and an impact set. What's the worst that could happen??- you might break it...

Yeah and if you break the impact adapters, at least they won't (ok... shouldn't) shatter like the hand socket adapters.

I use a 1/2 up to 3/4" adapter with the ball joint socket on my Mopar. It took all the abuse my Thundergun could give it. I don't think I would use one downsize for fear of snapping it off, just use a smaller impact gun.

I've got impact adapters going both ways.. 3/8 to 1/2 and 1/2 to 3/8.. I also have swivel adapters for both 1/2 and 3/8 even though I have both 1/2 and 3/8 swivel impacts. You'd be suprised how often you still reach for something like that especially since I only have the shallow swivels. I like the snap-on ones for swivel adapters since they are the "ball" style.. they don't really bind up, etc. Matco, Mac and I think Cornwell now all use a similar style on the impact side of things.
