Hi All. I'm in the market for a good quality 3/8 torque wrench for my small engine repair shop. Cheapest isn't what I want. I know you get what you pay for.

I've had snap on split beam and then sold off to get snap on techwrench.

As much as I love techwrench, the splitbeam is faster to use. Sometimes techwrench needs to zero and it takes a second to reset. Pisses me off when doing 32 lugnuts with my half inch.

I will be buying splitbeams again to have both.

I think techwrench would be nicer for slow methodical engine building. Or just get both. Lol

The PI ones are really good, they used to supply Snap-On (maybe even still do?), but be aware they don't torque counterclockwise.

Still looking for a reasonably good one that works in both directions.

If your are not looking for cheap or "good enough" but don't want to break the bank, Precision Instruments or CDI is the way to go IMO. I went with CDI from Tools Delivered...

Iirc CDI rebrands for Mac, they make an awesome torque wrench. I own a couple CDIs, a gearwrench, a Mac, a few SO (like 7 or so), and a lone milsurp PI.
I would recommend the CDI or SO. The PI I have is not a good example of their work, but its the only one I have any experience with.
I would buy split beams, one with a fixed head and one flex head. They both have their place in a tool box.

Buy something you can do angles with.

I think I would go after a used Snap On tech angle. Don't get the red tech wrench. It doesn't do angles.

Snap On repairs these for a flat $70 fee. So get a roughed up model from ebay and send it in. This will be cheaper than the others mentioned. you should be able to get the tool for $100.

The B models have improved grips that don't have the end cap problems the A models had.

Hey Adam C. I'm quite certain the flat fee from SO is $90. Just FYI. It is for my 1/2" techwrench anyway.
