I'm already in the process of breaking down a wall in my main 3-car garage. A 4th door will be installed on Monday, later on concrete will be laid on the back yard, and I need guidance on the following goal.

I'd like build a 3-car garage on the back yard. I got an easy 55' wide, and 30' long area on the back yard.

What are my choices?

To buy a kit, and from where?

To contract a builder for construction?

:rocker:

Ok, I'll chime in since nobody else is. It's not clear what you're wanting to do. Are you adding a door on the backside of your existing garage to acess the backyard to allow building a separate structure for the new garage, or are you adding the door to access an addition being built onto your existing garage? The answer to this question determines the answer to your question.

If it's an addition, or what "annex" implies to me, then a kit wouldn't be appropriate and you should find a contractor. If it's a separate structure, then a kit would be an option. I don't have any personal experience with any kits so I can't comment much further on those. I plan on doing a garage expansion next summer on my 3 car detached.

Lot of things to consider. What is your end game, any zoning or HOA restrictions limiting you on type, size or other issues. When you say 55' x 30' area is that the size of your back yard is so you are probably SOL on a three car space when you factor in the ability to maneuver around and into the unit.

Basicly what we are asking fella is for more information.

With the limited info provided I would recommend contacting an architect to help you.

You are correct on that one. Ran into a wall with the city.

This is what I had on mind, and it was going to fit, but not centered on the back yard. The problem is that I need 10' from the rear wall to the garage rear wall, and 10 feet from the front of the garage to the rear wall of the house.

There is already concrete laid out along with the garage. Now my plan B is to make the current garage longer. There is enough space there for two cars. This will also be cheaper.

The blue arrow would be a secpond garage door for patio access.
