3 car garage lighting question!

Hey guys.

I literally just finishing painting my 3 car garage.

It has 12 foot ceilings (floor to finish drywall) and it is about 28wide by 22 deep.

I have roughed in 10 electrical ceiling octagons for lighting.

I have acouple questions!

Ceiling octagon fixtures, do those 2 lamp LED fixtures you guys recommend cover the entire octagon box?

If so, which ones are dimmable?

I might just go with 6 fixtures and cap the others for now. Or purchase all 10 and make them dimmable.

I’m not a mechanic but I plan on having a 4 post hoist on the “right” side of the picture sometime this coming year with a little detailing side gig.

Possibly looking into these at my local Costco. Just not too keen on the 4000k and only 3000 lumens. Thoughts?

3300 Lumens at 12' is fine for parking, but that's about it. Fixture placement matters - especially with a lift. Defining fixtures and locations should have been done before placing junction boxes - though too many don't.

Yeah, Honestly being an electrician everything was done by laser and everything is center so to that extent it’s fine. I just want something probably 5-6000k which seems to be the norm and I would like them to cover the octagon box and be surface mounted as opposed to chained down.

10 3000 Lumen fixtures = 29fc @ 30" workplane
10 4000 Lumen fixtures = 39fc @ 30" workplane
10 5000 Lumen fixtures = 49fc @ 30" workplane

93fc @ 30" workplane recommended for detailed mechanical work.

Actual Maxlite 2-lamp strip light housing dimensions of can be found here (link).

Just built a 35 X 45 with 12’ ceilings. I plan on installing 4 rows of 3 of these lights from Home-Depot.

Wow that’s serious lol. I don’t think I’ll need something like that but please take some pictures after for sure!

Personally I just want it to be flush to the ceiling. Garage will sort of be a hang out spot / family events etc in my case anyway
