I'm going to guess the hard aren't hardened!Should absolutely be strong enough to be useful..
I also have a 3D scanner. I scanned the only shelf bracket that came with our basement fridge, and then printed sets. I'm hoping it will become more useful, versus just making toys.Should absolutely be strong enough to be useful..
I printed a set of box end wrenches once, they were perfect for my application.
@Jbullfrog , are you seeing where the printer can help you in your business? Squares, levels, gauges, spacers, guides, templates, etc.. ?
Oohh, can you do freezer door shelf brackets? The factory ones keep breaking on me? Of course, it's always the same one, so I have 15 of one hand, and 2 of the other. I can send one for scanning if you are interested.I also have a 3D scanner. I scanned the only shelf bracket that came with our basement fridge, and then printed sets. I 3d printed an internal fill for a refrigerator door shelf bracket. Eventually it still broke, just somewhere else. Ended up making one from metal that lasted until the fridge went away.Oohh, can you do freezer door shelf brackets? The factory ones keep breaking on me? I have not found it listed on any of the maker sites.
Most plastics do tend to get brittle at sub-zero temps.I 3d printed an internal fill for a refrigerator door shelf bracket. Eventually it still broke, just somewhere else. Ended up making one from metal that lasted until the fridge went away.
It was still a fun exercise to reverse engineer the original bracket and then design a support for it. It worked for a little while. Most plastics do tend to get brittle at sub-zero temps.
I should clarify... I can't imagine personally doing that. We and everybody else ships and hand out so much swag, at that level this would be coolCan't imagine handing out, or carrying, 100 of them to a trade show or worse, on a regular trip, but it's a cool use for a 3d printer. NASA can 3d print usable tools. You'll be amazed at all the stuff that can be 3d printed.
Who hands out business cards anymore? An interesting piece of 3D material might end up as a fidget widget on someone's desk, rather than in the stack of trade show business cards that don't fit in the card holders anymore (or don't matter)Can't imagine handing out, or carrying, 100 of them to a trade show or worse, on a regular trip, but it's a cool use for a 3d printer. Funny thing about business cards is that many of the people we exchange cards with, we've already been talking to or emailing for awhile, so we have their contact info. It's just an outdated tradition. Some have gone to electronic cards but if you don't have the app they use, it's a pita to scan in the moment.Who hands out business cards anymore? I recently re found a laser burned wooden saw, looked like a vintage handsaw, with the company's contact info burned on like a painted saw. Sat on my desk for 3-4 years, got buried during COVID shutdown. Pic later.
Another goodies was a Gore gasket chunk.

I still get requests for cards on a regular basis. Which ***** as I don't carry them. People give me their cards and I mostly lose them immediately--not on purpose, just what it is.Funny thing about business cards is that many of the people we exchange cards with, we've already been talking to or emailing for awhile, so we have their contact info. They probably do ok in Samsung since they are always broken, I hear. How do they hold up at LG temps?
