I need a 3 gang outdoor (weatherproof) PVC box and cover. Ideally one of the clear lids.

This will house Z-wave switches, hence I cannot use metal. Aesthetically one box as opposed to 1-1-1 or 2x2 would be preferrable.

Is such a thing even made???

Anyone know?

(PS Could use 4 gang if needed.)

The box Wylie posted is metallic. If by some chance you're able to find a PVC box, clear plastic in use covers will be unavailable for it. I believe 1 and 2 gang covers are all that's offered.
I think you're going to have to let aesthetics take a back seat to practicality.

Carlon is the primary vendor for plastic boxes and covers, and apparently they only sell single and two-gang outdoor boxes. Metallic triple-gang outdoor boxes and covers are available, but that doesn't help.

Thanks guys.

Lots of 3 and 4 gang metal boxes. (Although only two gang covers with clear plastic 'use when plugged in' covers.)

Z-wave is an RF coupled system that allows remote control of each device (along with normal device actuaion/use by operating the switch). A metal box will block the ~900MHz RF signal.

There are some reports that you can actually extend the antenna and have that exit the box. Might test that actually.

Just wanted to know if I was missing something

Thx

Those types of zwave modules control 2 lights so you can control 2 lights from a single gang box or even 4 from a dual gang. Anymore than that and you're not going to fit anything into the box. You'll need a box extender for those outdoor boxes. You can also use metal boxes with zwave, I know because I am doing it.

Make sure whichever module you buy is Zwave Plus

Im 130 feet from the residence, which has radiant barrier in the walls.... and some foliage on the way.

I guess I can mock up a metal box and see if it will work, but much of what I read seems to tell me it wont be happy.

edit: Thought you were saying use one or the other- see now it was 'use a standard double/duplex swithc AND a dual channel module... got it. At first I thought it was a duplex zwave switch.

(I have a fall back of placing a repeater module in one of the path lights- provide power to the module, and its sole role would be to repeat the signal since the path lights are controlled elsewhere. Ive got about 3" of PCV cap out of the ground that could hold a module like you posted...Hopefully not needed.)

The duplex switch is a very good solution- one of those and a standard switch give me 3 switches in a two gang

thx
