I have a set of older but in good shape 3 legged jack stands. I believe they were from Montgomery Wards. They are the ratcheting type. I don't know the weight rating, but my Father purchased them, and he didn't mess around with things like that (he was a heavy repair mechanic at a John Deere plant). I've thought maybe it was time to give these up and purchase something like the Sear's 4 ton that are $49.00 now, I have $30.00 in bonus points that I can use. BTW, I don't use the stands a lot, but safer is always best.

As long as they are not the split tube style. Technically 3 legs will be more stable than 4 on an uneven surface. Picture?
