Just like it says. I have a chance to get a 3 phase but I know my home is only 220 single. Any suggestions to make this work without getting deep in my wallet?

Yes if you can, make a rotary phase convertor. If not change to a single phase motor or buy a rotary phase converter. How big of a motor do you want to run?

ouch . I would look on some commercial auction sites for a Rp convertor for that size, a new one isn't going to be cheap ( around 2 grand from msc ) look for a machine shop that is going out of business they a good source for them .

this is 15 hp unit

That's a rather large hard starting application to start with a convertor but you can do it. You want about 2X the HP of the compressor motor for the converter motor. So that would take a 25-30 hp 3 phase motor for the convertor. For a convertor that size you would want to spin it up with a "pony" motor ( single phase 1/2hp same RPM as the convertor motor)

You could build this for some where around $200-250

Remember you need to run the convertor all the time you want to run the compressor. It will not cycle on and off like the compressor will. I would think that the Idle amps on a converter that size would be around 14-16 to keep it running
