3 Phase Dayton Heaters at Auction

I won a lot of furnaces / garage heaters at auction. Upon getting them home I discovered two were matching Dayton 3UF98 (look brand new) Garage Heaters (3 phase, 50kw, 480 volt, 170,500 btu). Though discontinued, I see these once sold for around $4,000.

I cannot use since I am only on single phase. Is there still a market for these if they work?

I wasn’t aware there even was such a thing as a three phase heater, but that aside I imagine SOMEBODY could make good use of them. Problem is, how do you find that “somebody”? Perhaps if you were to put them on Craigslist or on Ebay that “somebody” would see it and contact you and then you would be able to sell them. As to price, I have no idea what a fair selling price would be.

Very easy to rewire for single phase. Your problem is the voltage rating. There are three separate heater coils, (one for each phase). You will need to disconnect TWO of them. This will make the unit about 16K BTU. You will need a transformer to step up 220 to 440 volts. They can be had on the surplus market for almost scrap price.

An internal diagram or model number will help a lot.
