Hello all, and happy holidays.

I'm having a hard time finding a #3 phillips impact socket thats 1/2" drive. Im trying to take the rock grate off the bottom of my jet boat to weld a new tang on a broken section of the grate.

I'm having a real hard time getting these screws out. I tried my cordless drill and wont even come close to budging them. I then tried my big corded DeWalt screw gun and shredded a couple of bits. Also tried to use my impact driver but just cant get enough room in between the ground and the impact driver with the hammer to budge these things. I'd like to find a phillips impact that I could use with my 1/2" drive IR gun. I'm pretty sure I could get them out with that. I also dont want to use any heat on the screws as there is caulking and gel coat that I dont want to melt.

Im sure this thing is out there somewhere, but for some reason I cant find it for the life of me.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

My handheld impact driver is 1/2" drive and came with the bit....I've done exactly what you're thinking of....

The Harbor Frieght cheapie comes this way as well, I think, bit will be of questionable quality though.

You might try warming them with just a soldering iron directly on the screws, there may be threadlocker you don't know about, the iron will let you heat gently, I've used that trick mant times.

Thats a good idea with the soldering iron. I'll give it a try.

There has got to be threadlocker on those screws because those things aren't budging at all. Thanks.
