3 Way switch wiring Question

I am getting ready to wire the outside lights on the garage using 2 switches. I have several diagrams on how to wire the switches in different combination but not the way I need to do it.

I am going from the panel to switch 1, then light, then next light, then switch 2 then last light.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Lou

I think this page covers almost all configurations.

Anyway, you will have to connect the lights together even when changing the position of the switch to before the third light. Or take a look at the diagram. You'll need four wires between at least 2 of the lights and the 2nd switch to the third light to maintain a neutral.

From either the 2nd light or the 2nd switch you can power the 3rd light. So if your run has to be switch, light, light, switch, light, you will need the four wires shown from the first light all the way to the third. You see there is no neutral in the 2nd switch so the 3rd light can't be powered out of that box.

Thanks, Zeke. I have looked around that site and checked out the drawing you attached but I got lost. I will check some more.

I never run 3 wire into the lights for a 3 way setup, this way if it ever needs to be troubleshoot it's a little easier for me or the next person. You won't have to take down lights and less connections. I always run the 14/3 from one switch to another even though it may use up a little more wire.

Thanks for the tip on not running 3 wire to the lights. Each of the switches is under a light. I am beginning to think it may just be easier to to run 14/3 between the switches and 14/2 between the lights.

Much easier this way. Run power to one switch. Run 14/3 between switches. Then 14/2 from either switch to first light. Then light to light.
