I have to get power outdoors for a 240 volt stone saw.
Quickest way would be to the dryer 30 amp outlet. The fellow that lent me the saw has a number of pigtails.
The one I’ll show of a pic of is or was a 30 amp plug with the one connector cut off. So I’m planning on going this route.
Probably not to code but only to be used on this one stone job.
I don’t see much difference doing this or going back to the panel and pig tailing across the breaker.
I’m just a little apprehensive since this is on a new build and the electrical inspector just gave us a pass less than 3 weeks ago. I’ll probably be cutting for a day or two.
Appreciate your input.
Existing plug and outlet.

what he did was cut off the neutral so it would fit either a dryer or stove receptacle.
when I did hardwood floor refinishing we used the same set up to get 240 to the drum sander . 99% of the time we used the stove outlet.
we should have used a breaker or fuse as the sander was 30 amp @ 240, but a 40 amp is not that far out of line, plus we were always there when it was running of course

@The Cobbler The owner had no problem when I told him I was going to use a 30Amp. The reason for the dryer is that is closer to the back door.
@wyliesdiesels Can’t get. Apic any more tonight but like I mention to The Cobbler he had no issue with the connection. I did notice it was an old Baldor. The owner was a stone mason that just turned 75 so this wasn’t his first stone rodeo. 😁 I’ll take some pics of his well used saw tomorrow. I just wish it was a wet saw as I’m going to be in a stone dust cloud if there is no wind.

@nadogail For sure now I know I’m going with experience 👍 Thanks.
I don’t know what it is but as I get older I have more of a tendency to err on the side of caution. Guess I’m trying to extend my time on the planet. 😂 Sure wasn’t like that years ago. 🍺
