I have a 6500Watt generator with a 30 Amp output, but my Generac has a 20 Amp input.
Can I use and 30to20A adaptor into the Generac, or a 20to30A adaptor into the generator?

Your generac what? Transfer switch?

You can adapt at either location. Doesn't matter

No issues of overpowering the 20A circuits? I know it would only be running about 22Amps, but don't want to overheat anything.

The equipment determines what it draws and the breakers downstream protect that wiring.

Your house is connected to a grid capable of delivering thousands of amps. Same principal
