2 post or 4 post lift?

Where would you place it?

Vehicles I would be working on would be my 79 and 91 fbodies, 02 Silverado, 04 Pilot and a 2012 Yota. The Yota and Pilot are the daily drivers that sit in there own 2 car. Typically it's my truck and 2 fbods that find there home in the pole barn.

My ceilings are only 9.5ft. tall (maybe 10 (need to double check)).

Howdy,
Well I also have a 30' wide X 40' deep, 12' ceilings though.
The house garage is 3 wide, so the daily drivers park there.
In the 30 X 40 I placed a 4 post 9' lift in the back left corner, for working on the projects or just parking one out of the way. That allows me to park another project under it.
Have an 8' X 8' loft in the back right corner, with a desk and work bench under it.
That still leaves plenty of room in the front half of the garage for working on projects, daily drivers, etc.

Works well for me, don't have to do a lot of shuffeling of projects.

Regards
Jeff

Thanks for the tips. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a 4 post. I think having the flexibility of being able to move the lift on casters is a big plus if I want to change the configuration. While storage is a plus, particularly during the winter months I want to make sure it's easily accessible as I do most if not all work to our vehicles.

With that being said now the question is which lift? I've been looking at Bendpak, Challenger, and Direct Lift, any other suggestions?

Here are a few pics taken from garage door looking to the back. Please ignore the clutter, and lot of this stuff will be finding a new home :)

It's a DirectLift ProPark9+
Very happy with it, came with casters so easy to move if need be, though I did bolt it down for a little extra peace of mind.

Jeff

poorboy,

Nice looking second gen you have there. Are you on the NastyZ28 site as well?

-Mark

Mark I am over there, long time reader, not much of a poster (same with thirdgen.org) :) I actually started a similar thread over there as well. Wanted to see and or get some ideas that maybe I hadnt thought of yet.

Just me, but I think a 4 post would be a waste with the low ceilings.

Believe me, I'm not happy about my ceilings not being at least 12ft. Unfortunately this was the hand I was dealt when we bought this property. I'm not complaining, going from a townhouse with little to no parking at all to this, I was :rocker: Now I'm just trying to make the most out of it and I'm pretty sure with a 4 post I'll be able to put the 2nd gen up in the air and if I have to, I can park the Yota underneath during the winter if and when I'm driving the truck around.

4 posts are the only way to go with a 3rd gen. makes it easy to set the suspension up!

i would put it in a back corner as well with a enough room to pull tires on each side if need be.

get one that has the trolleys in the middle so you can lift the car up off the tires if needed.
