i have posted this question on 2 other sites and no one ever responds. im hoping i can find help here. i have a 85 mustang gt with after market pistons (see pic) dont know what king as i cant see a stamp anywhere. i want to put some edelbrock 202 performer rpm heads on with an XE comp cam. 509 intake, 512 exhaust. can you tell by looking if i will have ptc issues? is there a way to find out BEFORE i buy the heads? i need to know asap. i want to get the engine back in the car. now if someone can tell me how to post the picture i will add it.

There is no way to tell from a picture. Go get a dial indicator and do a trial fit.

Use clay to check for valve clearance but - geesh - I don't know where to start......

I will say this - based on info provided in this post, I would have to say that you should not do this.

You can not just cobble things together like this. You have got to know what you are doing and what you are working with - unless you have money pouring from your wallet and can afford to blow a couple of grand on mistakes. There should be absolutely no guess work when mixing and matching performance parts. Have you even considered the rocker ratio into this hap-hazard mix?

The "That looks cool - I bet it would work great with this cool looking thingy" attitude works for hopping up your PC but not your V-8.

Like others have said, a lot of variables. Did the pistons change the compression ratio? Is the block or heads decked? Do the pistons have standard 2.02 valve reliefs? If they're a stock replacement type piston with proper valve reliefs I would say 99.9% for sure you won't have problems with the lift/duration on that cam.

I doubt he would have issues with it either, but there's not enough information (or patience, apparently) to make a decision here.

I have run .512 lift with 1.65(?) ratio using basically stock pistons, but not with the heads he's talking about.
